Due to sunny and muggy conditions, the NWS in Mount Laurel issued the heat advisory warning from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. for northwest Burlington as well as all of Mercer, Camden and Gloucester counties. Temperatures in those counties are expected to reach into the low 90s on Wednesday afternoon, with a heat index of about 96 degrees, the NWS said.
Some scattered pop up showers or a thunderstorm are possible well inland, according to meteorologist Joe Cioffi "A better chance for showers or thunderstorms comes tonight into Thursday," Cioffi said on Facebook.
With humidity climbing to about 70 percent, the heat index across the majority of the state should reach 90 on Wednesday afternoon, the NWS said.
Areas along the Jersey Shore will be about 10 degrees cooler. There’s also a risk of moderate rip tides in Atlantic, Monmouth and Ocean counties.
